Final Exam

Part 2

Caption Writing:

A gunman named Edward Sanitizer robs a bank yesterday at 2:43pm in Houston Texas. Right after Sanitizer had robbed the bank, he attempted to escape, he ran out the building and jumped into his van, he saw a security guard coming after him, he pulled up his gun to fire, but the security guard shot at him twice and hit him once in the face and once in the neck.

Enzo pageer,  a former guard in france,  catches on fire on December 17 at 6:00 pm.  The town park was having a bonfire celebration, until the fire got out of control, Enzo heard a woman in trouble, and trying to save her he had got himself into some trouble as well.

President Obama argues with his secretary of state, yesterday at 8:00 a.m. at Washington airport. Secretary Angela Torns was giving President Obama some constructive advice.

Part 3

Photo Composition:

This photo has simplicity/ background, because the photo has plain simple background to make the subject stand out more.

Fill the frame/cropped, because the photo the photo looks more filled instead of a lot of space that could distract us from the main point of the photo

Mergers, because the audience distracts me from the subject in the photo. The audience gets in the way of the main point of the photo

Rules of thirds, because the photo has a well balanced composition. The subject of the photo stands out more and creates an interesting image. I think this photo could also show simplicity because the background doesn't distract people from the main subject.

Self Portraits and Portraits Preview

*Tips

1. Creating a Theme

Two items make a photo, the subject and backdrop, and I think that they are equally important. This is where your lens choice comes into play. A long lens allows you to send the back ground out of focus and narrow down the amount of background in the photo. A wide lens keeps the background in focus and allows it to be a key part of the image. Either way the background is playing a big factor by being a key element or by not distracting from the subject.

2. Get Closer

The most common mistake made by photographers is that they are not physically close enough to their subjects. In some cases this means that the center of interest—the subject—is just a speck, too small to have any impact. Even when it is big enough to be decipherable, it usually carries little meaning. Viewers can sense when a subject is small because it was supposed to be and when it's small because the photographer was too shy to get close.Don't be shy. If you approach people in the right way, they'll usually be happy to have their picture made. It's up to you to break the ice and get them to cooperate. Joke around with them. Tell them why you want to make the picture. Practice with people you know so that you are comfortable; people can sense when you aren't.

Environmental portrait:

i liked this one because this portrait told us what she/he likes to do and creates a good theme of environment

Casual Portrait:

I liked this one because he/she took a close up picture, he/she looks very casual, and has a neutral background.

Formal Portrait:

I liked this portrait for formal because it seems formal but gives off maybe what he likes to do
For the portrait to the right, it just shows more emotion and formalness.

Self Portrait 1:

I like this one because it seems interesting, it makes me wonder what she's thinking.

Self portrait 2:

This is very creative and tells me what he thinks is apart of him.

Planning Ahead:

For my portrait assignment i will shoot maybe one of my friends or family. I will shoot this outside or indoors maybe at my home. I will use the tips and ideas the several websites gave me.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

Jerry Uelsmann

Untitled, 2008

I see . . .

Trees,
a field,
A pond with leaves lightly landing on the water.
The sun light resting on the water.
In the background I see trees already barren of their leaves.

I smell . . .

I smell the fresh air.
The rain that had just fell.
The pond water.
The fresh cut grass.
The tree sap

I hear . . .

The wind crashing into my ear
The whisper of the pond
The leaves falling onto the ground and water and the
The birds whistling

I taste . . .

The moist air.
The potato chips I'm eating
My apple juice I'm drinking
My Chapstick I just bought.

I feel . . .
The moist air
The pond
The grass I'm sitting on
the leaves on the ground
The tree bark

I would like to create a powerpoint to help explain who my favorite photographer is.

Africa and Mural Project Preview

Africa:

The powerpoint presentation was amazing. I was really fascinated by the photos he took. He captured great moments in natural life that we never get to see on a daily basis.

This photo is of two monkeys staring at each other while one is caring for a baby. I like this photo because it captured a family moment between mother and father (i think it's a family).  I just think it is really cool and sweet.
  1. One rule of photography i think he might have used is balance, because with a monkey on each side, I think it kind of balances out the picture. The picture has a steadiness to it.

a.     What kind of camera did he use?
  •     He uses a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses.
b.     What is his reason for taking the photos?
  •     Showing the world the way animals are in their state of Being. Before they are no longer there.
c.     What is his hope by taking these types of photos?
  •     Maybe to help us realize, that animals are apart of life as well. They are beautiful creatures and have an equal right to live. That we should be more grateful and respectful before time runs out and everything (meaning animals) vanishes before our eyes.
d.     Find something he has to say about Africa and post the quote on your blog
  •     "To me, every creature, human or nonhuman, has an equal right to live, and this feeling, this belief that every animal and I are equal, affects me every time I frame an animal in my camera."

Mural Project Preview:

1. What theme could you use here at school to make your own mural that tells a unique Akins story? Be specific. Explain what subjects you will include in your mural.
  •     A theme we could use is "Academies".  We would take pictures that represent each academy and make a big mural of it. i chose this because the academies do tell a unique story for us.
2. Why is this theme worth devoting time and effort to capture? Why would other students care about this theme?
  •     This theme represents our school and whats great about it. Other students would care about this because its good to represent your school. Its good to take pride in it.
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using a phone camera to do this project?
  •      Advantages would be that a phone has some styles and formats a camera doesnt . A phone is easier to hold.
  •      Disadvantages would be that a phone wouldn't have clear photos like a camera.
4. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using an SLR camera to do this project?

  •     Advantages larger sensors (physical sizes), access to better optics, faster electronics and,shot-buffers, more durable, better in extreme environments - low light, fast action, etc. More control.
  •     Disadvantages SLR cameras are relatively complex so there is more chance of them breaking down. They are bulkier.

5. Should we use phones or SLR cameras for this project? Why?

Academic Shoot Preview

The story:

In my opinion this photo tells a story. This visually tells a story by showing the students help out with the homeless. i think this tells a story of a school being helpful and using their time to help with the needy.

Action Or Emotion:

This photo shows emotion and action. Action is the water reacting to the chemical reaction. The Emotion is the students reaction the experiment. Their emotion is surprised or excited.

Fill the Frame:

This photo fills the frame with interesting things because this photo makes you wonder what they are working on. Its make you wonder because it looks fun and exciting and interesting.

I chose this photo because chemistry intrigues me  and this photo was very well taken. This photo shows the element emphasis because it leads you to only one area of the photo.

1.Where do you think you could take photos like the ones you look at today?
I think in class rooms, hallways, gym, cafeteria, any where in school really

2. Whose classroom would you like to visit and take photos in?
Fun classes, like gym or chemistry /physics

Keep taking pictures until i get them perfect.

Avoiding mergers

This Photo represents "avoiding Mergers" because the guy in the picture had a huge pole behind him. The pole behind him stands out and had caught my attention. It took my attention to the pole instead of the disaster behind it.

Frame

This represents frame because the broken window framed the outside surroundings which were the flag and the ruins. The broken glass i think made an intense effect to the photo. in my opinion this was a great example of the "frame".

Balance

i chose the photo to represent balance because both halves of the picture look the same. They moved the camera viewpoint and  included the towers to support their subject
