Trees, 
a field, 
A pond with leaves lightly landing on the water.
The sun light resting on the water.
 In the background I see trees already barren of their leaves.

I smell . . .

I smell the fresh air. 
The rain that had just fell. 
The pond water.
The fresh cut grass.
The tree sap

I hear . . .

The wind crashing into my ear 
The whisper of the pond 
The leaves falling onto the ground and water and the
The birds whistling

I taste . . .

The moist air.
The potato chips I'm eating
My apple juice I'm drinking
My Chapstick I just bought.

I feel . . .
The moist air
The pond
The grass I'm sitting on
the leaves on the ground
The tree bark

Africa and Mural Project Preview

Africa:

The powerpoint presentation was amazing. I was really fascinated by the photos he took. He captured great moments in natural life that we never get to see on a daily basis. 


This photo is of two monkeys staring at each other while one is caring for a baby. I like this photo because it captured a family moment between mother and father (i think it's a family).  I just think it is really cool and sweet.
  1. One rule of photography i think he might have used is balance, because with a monkey on each side, I think it kind of balances out the picture. The picture has a steadiness to it.

a.     What kind of camera did he use?
  •     He uses a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses.
b.     What is his reason for taking the photos?
  •     Showing the world the way animals are in their state of Being. Before they are no longer there.
c.     What is his hope by taking these types of photos?
  •     Maybe to help us realize, that animals are apart of life as well. They are beautiful creatures and have an equal right to live. That we should be more grateful and respectful before time runs out and everything (meaning animals) vanishes before our eyes.
d.     Find something he has to say about Africa and post the quote on your blog
  •     "To me, every creature, human or nonhuman, has an equal right to live, and this feeling, this belief that every animal and I are equal, affects me every time I frame an animal in my camera."


Mural Project Preview:



1. What theme could you use here at school to make your own mural that tells a unique Akins story? Be specific. Explain what subjects you will include in your mural.
  •     A theme we could use is "Academies".  We would take pictures that represent each academy and make a big mural of it. i chose this because the academies do tell a unique story for us.
2. Why is this theme worth devoting time and effort to capture? Why would other students care about this theme?
  •     This theme represents our school and whats great about it. Other students would care about this because its good to represent your school. Its good to take pride in it.
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using a phone camera to do this project?
  •      Advantages would be that a phone has some styles and formats a camera doesnt . A phone is easier to hold.
  •      Disadvantages would be that a phone wouldn't have clear photos like a camera. 
4. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using an SLR camera to do this project?

  •     Advantages larger sensors (physical sizes), access to better optics, faster electronics and,shot-buffers, more durable, better in extreme environments - low light, fast action, etc. More control.
  •     Disadvantages SLR cameras are relatively complex so there is more chance of them breaking down. They are bulkier.

5. Should we use phones or SLR cameras for this project? Why?

  • I think I did pretty good.

  • I took a photo of the security guards.

  • Yes
4. If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently?
  • I didn't take a photo of Students doing anything Academic.

  • I think i did all right, i didn't find anything else for a frame.

  • I took a photo of something academic of the school.
3. Is it clear to people looking at your photos what the subject is?
  • yes
4. If you didn't follow the rule well, what could you have done differently?
  • Taken more time to take my photos
  • Taken a picture of a frame inside the classroom with kids involved maybe



Simplicity:

  • I think i did pretty well. Its obvious what the main subject of the photo is

  • I took a picture of out mascot

  • yes

  • I think I did okay, I could have done better or tried harder.

  • I went to Art, they were painting and sketching pictures.

  • yes

  • Taken more time to take my photos

Academy Shoot Reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?

  • I had too move to a lot of different classes to find what I needed.

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.

  • Holding the camera, because i have shaky hands
3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?

  • i feel more comfortable with the camera now,  i think i could get better examples of the elements, i would do a better job next time.
4. What things would you do the same?

  • i would take my time, think hard about what would be a good example
5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?

  • Avoiding mergers 
6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?

  • The rule of thirds
7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?

  • Rule of  thirds, i could study the term and keep trying to capture that image and ill eventually get there.

Academic Shoot Preview


The story:


In my opinion this photo tells a story. This visually tells a story by showing the students help out with the homeless. i think this tells a story of a school being helpful and using their time to help with the needy.

Action Or Emotion: 

This photo shows emotion and action. Action is the water reacting to the chemical reaction. The Emotion is the students reaction the experiment. Their emotion is surprised or excited.








Fill the Frame:

This photo fills the frame with interesting things because this photo makes you wonder what they are working on. Its make you wonder because it looks fun and exciting and interesting.










I chose this photo because chemistry intrigues me  and this photo was very well taken. This photo shows the element emphasis because it leads you to only one area of the photo.

I think in class rooms, hallways, gym, cafeteria, any where in school really

2. Whose classroom would you like to visit and take photos in?
Fun classes, like gym or chemistry /physics

Keep taking pictures until i get them perfect.
